Jared Moss at Best Gun Dogs wanted to create a blog to chronicle his gun dog training and hunting exploits. He wanted the ability to add photos and posts on his own but still have a custom website look and feel that personified his business and training methods. He was happy with the outcoming a few months ago and has been dog blogging ever since. His hunting dog training business has tripled in that time and I can say he is one happy customer. Google likes him.

Just finished up this website for a client who run a bird dog kennel down in Arizona. He is an avid hunter and bird dog trainer who competes in AKC and AFTCA field trials with his german shorthairs and english pointer. The design is based on the wordpress theme “Black Bible” which we first used for client website Ashby Kennels. The layout is simple and the design easy to navigate. We did the standard SEO treatment on this website with .htaccess files and search engine friendly URLs. The owner has done a great job building and maintaining the content of this kennel website.

Gun Dog Names was a project brought to me by a previous customer. He had the idea to create a wordpress driven website where users were able to submit photos of their hunting dogs. The site is used to help new hunting dog owners or puppy buyers choose a name for their new best friend. By incorporating a couple of cool wordpress plugins we were able to allow visitors to submit their own images and dog names.

Ashby Kennels was a recent project for a friend of mine who is raising and training english pointers. Rob is a pretty good designer and wanted to create his own header image and it was fun to help him build a website using wordpress. Rob found a very cool image gallery plugin that I was able to install for him to showcase his second hobby – outdoor photography. We also incorporated the Google Adsense ads so he could profit from his web traffic.

Wolf Creek gun dog training is a website for getting new leads and customers for a dog training business. The owner had a bad experience with a previous web designer and came to me through a referral. I was able to help him focus his ideas and domain name on a specific set of keyword phrases to help drive targeted Google traffic to his site. Using wordpress as the software platform and a custom wordpress theme we were able to create and launch a custom website in a very short period of time.

Our friend Bob Buckley at Range View Kennels has always had a nice website. He was active in updating his web content every week and did a great job with adding pictures and interacting with his customers. His problem was that his website was dated and old-school. We helped him install a wordpress theme and customize it to fits his needs. He already had a logo and knew what color schemes he liked. It was fairly easy to help him upgrade his existing website and optimize it for the search engines. We were also able to incorporate his YouTube videos into the website design.

One of the fun things about building websites is the challenge of learning new software and website tools. This week I became intimately aware of the phpBB forum or bulletin board software by doing three installs on three separate websites. Forums are a great way to cultivate relationships and interact with like-minded souls. Many times when I am searching for a solution to a specific problem in Google the answer will be found on a forum. We did a lot of research and found phpBB to be the leader of bulletin board software and the most search engine friendly as well. After 3 complete installs and phpBB setups I feel pretty confident that I could do it again. It is especially tricky to customize the themes or templates with unique colors and designs.

I called Chad Holman back in 2009 and asked him if he wanted a website to showcase his amazing brittany dogs. He was a little tentative at first until I told him he would get a lot more business by being online. He finally agreed to let me build it for him and maintain it. He is getting better at sending me pictures and updates for the site. He is already getting a lot of emails and phone calls from the new website about his champion american brittany dogs. Chad even has an email address now and is getting more high tech every day.
